Most areas into northeast Ohio have had the winter storm watch upgraded. A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for Cuyahoga County and a Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect for Ashtabula, Geauga, and Lake Counties
Cold air is expected to move through the area. This cold air will move over a warm Lake Erie. This combined with northwesterly winds and enough energy will create for the development for some lake effect snow. The lake effect snow is expected to be at its heaviest Monday Night and into Tuesday, with snowfall rates potentially reaching 1-2" per hour in some areas.
Snow accumulations will vary. In the Advisory area we could see snow amounts range from 2-8 inches. Higher amounts are possible in eastern Cuyahoga County. Snow accumulations in the warning area will reach 6-12 inches, with higher amounts possible in the highest snow bands.
In addition to the snow, gusty winds could gust as high as 35 mph. This will result in blowing snow, and reduction in visibility. Continue to stay tuned with us for updates.
